On 6 May 2011,
the Cathedral of
Reims celebrates
the eight
hundredth anniversary
of its
construction. On
the evening of
the anniversary was
opened the
show of
lights that can
appreciate Notre Dame in
the colors of
origin. A
masterpiece of
Gothic architecture, crowning place of kings of
France is one of
the earliest monuments inscribed on UNESCO World
Heritage Site. For Victor Hugo,
was "of all, the most beautiful." In
fact the

mountain of stone

construction, begun probably in
1211, led to three centuries

first building or
in the
Carolingian cathedral. The

being blessed by
the Archbishop of May
6, 1211 Reims Cathedral has
always been a
witness of French History. September
19, 1914 burned and
bombed for
four years, the
cathedral was
badly damaged. In
July 1962, deGaulle and
Chancellor Adenauer have
sealed, in
Reims, the reconciliation between France and Germany.
